Intake

Whether you are seeking therapy, consultation, or a full psychoeducational assessment, intake is the first step.

First Point of Contact

This meeting will allow us to assess what types of problems you are dealing with and how we can help.

Assessments include an intake appointment with the Intake Coordinator.

Mental health services begin with an intake with the clinician that will take your child's case.

Intake appointments are for parents only.

The length of this session can vary depending on the complexity of the case, and it is typically conducted virtually by phone.

Therapy

The most appropriate therapy for you and your child will be recommended after Intake

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Proven effective in treating various issues in children, teens, and adults.
  • A short-term treatment (between 8 – 20 sessions).
  • Teaches new skills to young clients and their parents.
  • Focuses on how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are related.
  • Although emotions do come first, sometimes we need to help kids change a negative pattern of thinking.

Applied Behaviour Analysis

  • Individualized skill-building plans
  • Reflects needs and priorities of individuals and their families.
  • Targeted skills may include: daily living (e.g., domestic and self-care skills), school readiness (e.g., group skills and attention to task), academic skills, or other social skills.
  • Plans to reduce problematic behaviour (e.g., toileting, sleep)

Emotion Focused Therapy

  • Helping parents to become active participants in the healing process by helping their child process emotions
  • Improves efficacy of other direct interventions
  • Respects the special bond and place parents have in being able to help there children
  • Two or three  sessions are often reserved for parents to learn and practice this technique f
